AT&T sets to activate internet tethering

Apple has always been amidst of carrier issues. AT&T made a lot of promises to the iPhone users to satisfy their expectations. The advanced and highly functional new operating system for iPhone’s coming up generation ads hype to the carrier support. It is hoped that internet tethering will now finally be supported by AT&T’s network.

It was just a year ago when Apple announced on the iPhone OS3.0 launching that it will support 3G internet tethering. But the only problem that stood in way was that the entire wireless carrier did not offer 3G internet tethering to iPhone users too.

You are very familiar with the long story behind iPhone’s new operating system 4.0. Multitasking sprung up in the OS 4.0 launch event, while all the do’s and don’ts will be clearly defined in the WWDC event, planned on 7^th June, 2010. Event will help to bridge the ends between iPhone app developers and Apple’s engineers.

Multitasking was the most desired feature in the iPhone operating system. All the developers and users waited impatiently to see it on the list. The user interface of OS4.0 is amazingly designed with seven different multitasking APIs, including background audio, voice over IP (VOIP), background location, push notifications, local notifications, task completion, and fast app switching. Multitasking adds a new feature in its user interface, which appears to be a widget like thing.

Apple event WWDC 2010 starts 7th June

I guess Steve’s has a long to-do–list on desk for this summer’s. First was the iPad launch on 3^rd March, than the iPhone OS 4.0 release on 8^th April and now, this year’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) starting June 7^th, at San Francisco’s Moscone West, convention center.

For those who don’t know, WWDC is a yearly Apple event where developers across the globe gather with Apple engineers to understand and adopt Apple technologies, more efficiently and deeply. Sessions and labs are conducted for defining and implementing fresh tools and APIs.

iPhone 4G: In the making!

After iPad and iPhone OS 4.0, blogosphere has already started to talk about iPhone 4G. launch of iPhone‘s next generation on 22^nd June is only a speculation and nothing has been confirmed by Apple. If you’re a cheese cake, everybody will want you, and in the race they’ll create rumors and exercise predictions. Somewhat is a case with Apple. The company being the center of attraction of Smartphone age increases the amount of speculations. Many bloggers report various conjectures about the launch, mostly figured out are the venue that has not being confirmed from Apple till yet.

Bye Bye iPhone 2G! No OS 4.0 support for you

Are you too from the lot using first generation iPhone? Well! Now is the time to say bye bye to your 2G. iPhone 2G is no more exercised than a few friends who wish to have their “silverbacks” and still greatly enjoy them. Sadly, the melancholy days begin for the older generation, as it is now confirmed that iPhone 2G doesn’t get the new iPhone OS 4.0 support. If you think you can still make without it, then it’ll be like posting letters in the Smartphone age.

I know all the iPhone 2G users will be annoyed and screech out “what the hell? There was no such confirmation at the iPhone OS 4 event”. But, according to the industry news and speculations OS 4.0 won’t be supported by 2G. It already seemed as they were resigned to their phone’s fate once they had iPhone 3G out lately, that wouldn’t support multitasking.

On stats from Steve Jobs

Recently, it wasn’t the launch of iPhone OS 4.0 alone, but Steve Jobs also revealed some interesting stats about iPhone, iPad and apps. He highlighted that 450,000 iPads are sold so far, and out of those 350,000 were sold on the launch day only. iPad that is considered to make it big into e-Reading sold about 600,000 iBooks by 8^th April, 2010, while 250,000 of them were sold on the first day of the launch.

Next, according to Apple it has sold 50 million iPhones, 35 million iPod touches, and which merely totals to a monstrous count of 85 million devices, running on the iPhone OS. The counting hasn’t finished yet; list also includes about 4 Billion app downloads from the app store, a total of 185,000 apps for iPhone and 3,500 for iPad.
