Nokia take its name from the navigation and mapping services and rebranded as HERE to push the more cross platform business

Nokia has taken another step in making its device and mapping service as standalone business. They have announced in the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona that they are rebranding their navigation and mapping services to HERE.
On Lumia 520, HERE suite comes in the pre-installed version included with HERE Drive, HERE Maps and HERE Transit which is the public transport guide. Chief deign officer at Nokia, Mr. Marko Ahtisaari said that users can pin their home location as well on their device and can use it as a base of all data. The personal experiences are intended to facilitate the users in spending more time in engaging with the world rather than just navigating with the smartphone.Elop has noted that Nokia will be launching HERE suite for other non-Nokia phones for enhancing the data experience, this year. This will enhance the partners and will take it with partnering with OS of Microsoft partner and Amazon.
Nokia is also adding more integration and functionality in HERE by integrating it with the Slight. Slight is augmented reality service which enables users to take pictures and navigate functionality and initiate maps. Nokia is planning to get Slight to more and more apps.
Wireless charging is also introduced to be charged the phones in the cars by linking up with the car’s navigation system. Nokia is moving closer to car navigation and it has inked deal with Toyota Motors Europe to embed this technology.
The rebranding of the Nokia’s mapping business software is an effort to show the world that how much they are eager about their standalone efforts. They are also aiming to bring services for their phones and also by partnering with others.
Nokia has revealed its launch with Firefox OS platform. Partners and Mozilla is also taking route basing on HTML5 web apps for filling the content for the new smartphone platform.
