The app iStethoscope is created by Peter Bentley, who is a researcher at University College London. Up till now there are more than three million downloads of iStethoscope by physicians all around the world. According to the owner, the iStethoscope is not very expensive (only $0.99) and has a potential to save life, money and time. Moreover, it can improve the health care in a non-traditional way. This means that a doctor might forget his Stethoscope, but it’s rare to forget your iPhone.
The iStethoscope is fully compatible with iPhone and uses microphone sensitivity to monitor patient’s blood pressure and heartbeat. Its full fledged design gives ultra sound scanning and near to perfect reading while you are on the go. According to an estimate, 80% of the world’s doctors would be using Smartphone by the end of 2012. This means iStethoscope can still make a breakthrough in physician’s community with its accuracy and cheap price.
Using the iStethoscope is very simple. However, there is a pitfall. As the iPhone microphone is small as compared to the Stethoscope. Therefore, for taking accurate reading above from fabric might be a challenge. Nevertheless, the app is a real wonder and further improvements can really make things easier for physicians.
