Just like everyone is flocking where the summers are, so has CourseSmart flew to iPhone app store. For those who are not that familiar with CourseSmart; it is a subscription based e-book program that is available online. CourseSmart is popular with e-learners who want to have an online access to their text books, well obviously because of the delight of online availability that it gives.
CourseSmart now introduces an iPhone app along with its long tail of features. The app is free but it requires preexisting subscription to the textbooks. The idea of having all your books in your pocket is rapidly spreading because of the ease it echoes. Normally, today most of the college students have their own iPhones and touch phones, so there’s essentially no hindrance standing in the way of this app’s success.
Doesn’t it sound like iPhone’s challenge to kindle? I agree that the two devices are not really similar in nature and kindle is going strong too but when apps like CourseSmart shows up on iPhone’s interface, they give a strong threat to devices like Kindle. Most of the people having an iPhone in their hands are more likely to use a CourseSmart app for accessing their textbooks rather than buying Kindle for the purpose.
Previously, Amazon had also thought of perusing CourseSmart for its e-textbook content but the deal never materialized, and now CourseSmart introduced its app on iPhone app store, dumping 7,000 e-textbooks initially. Sounds like too much going on for CourseSmart while a good deal for college goers.
