You own an iPhone 3G and wish to run iOS 4 on it? Me, too. I thought my older iPhone 3GS is a better option to have until Apple fixes all the up iPhone 4’s proximity sensors and signal reception issues. Particularly the upgraded 4th generation for iPhone is an interesting gadget with its multi-tasking interface and multiple enhancements but still I’m not willing for one until and unless Apple is over with the stupid signal reception issue. Till than to rejoice myself with iOS 4 I decided to upgrade my iPhone 3G.
As far as marketing things are concerned Apple has always been surrounded with multiple support forums who rarely talk bad about the company. I agree with the fact that no doubt Apple is doing best amongst the competitors when it’s about the device and their interfaces. I also agree with Steve on this statement that there is nothing like a born perfect but they do their best to make us happy. Just on the other side, many blogger are after criticizing Apple and the flaws of the emerging hornet’s nest in the electronic landscape.
Coming back to the iPhone 3G upgrading with iOS 4 , it was the most awful experience. The biggest problem faced was the slow speed. It is awful to have iOS 4 on your iPhone 3G that almost makes your iphone 3G of no use.
It was terrible in the beginning; I couldn’t even run the iPod and Map apps at one time. It started to stammer like a record player on a garbage truck. All the controls were uncontrollable with multiple taps. Keyboard was a mess on iOS 4 and it tossed down all the characters when I was busy writing my notes and listening to music. Loading of apps took longer than ever. Messages were a great task to be loaded on the iphone 3G. Safari was the most interesting part to bother me terribly on the iPhone with a seized lock up to the entire phone for almost 30 seconds. It wasn’t only the touch screen that abused me from using my iPhone 3G but the home buttons also denied access.
I tried each and every fix available on the Apple friendly forums but for sure they dint worked out. After all it is almost a generation ahead when compared to my “Oldie Goldie iPhone 3G”. Steve I guess you are good at the latest technology trends in the town but you need to step up for the Quality Assurance measures and get some good ones employed in your department.
